Most recommended: Top 5 places to try the beef noodle in Hanoi Capital City

Pho Goc Gao - 158 Ngoc Ha Street

The restaurant is not only famous for its well done, medium, and rare Pho dishes, but it is also famous for Pho with stewed wine sauce. The bow includes onions, so it is very flavorful. It is one of the rare noodle restaurants that sell beef stew in the morning in Hanoi. The sauce is quite tasty to my mouth; the meat is soft with a bit of fat, not all lean; the broth is also delicious. Moreover, accompanied bagel twists are big-sized.

  • Address: No.158 Ngoc Ha Street, Hoan Kiem District, Hanoi
  • Opening hours: 6:00 - 10:00
  • Price: 20.000 - 50.000 VND ($0,87 - $2,17)

I used to live a few blocks from Bun Bo Nam Bo for two years. You will easily miss the place if you aren't' looking for it. It is THE BEST bun bo that I had in Vietnam, hands down, and I would come here at least once a week. Don't expect an elegant restaurant. This place is all business, and it is wonderful. Long aluminum tables down the middle where you will sit next to young couples stopping by here on their way out for the evening or on the way home from school. They really only serve Bun Bo (and not very interesting nam or pork rolls which you can skip). Bun bo is one of Vietnam's great dishes, and it is made perfectly here. You'll have a hard time finding it anywhere as good as this anywhere else.

Great little place to eat Pho Bo (Beef Noodle Soup) for around VND50,000 (apx. 1.80GBP/2.20USD).

On entrance, the lady was cooking a huge pot of fresh broth and smelled good. Unlike many places, here you have a choice of having raw beef or sliced cooked beef. I like to have the best of both worlds, so i ask for a mix :).

The broth was flavorsome, however a little too heavy and oily for my usual taste. The beef and noodles were good and soft. Having this for breakfast really kick started our day and the overall experience was to be surrounded by locals - gets a tick from me here also :).

Overall I would say, if you are around town in Hanoi, be sure to drop by this place to have a taste of what locals like to eat in Hanoi.
