Hanoi Museum, formerly located at 5B Ham Long Street, Hoan Kiem District, Hanoi, is a place to introduce Hanoi capital from the country's founding to the present. Since it was established in 1982, the Museum has had tens of thousands of artifacts. In particular, the warehouse of rare and precious antiques has accounted for more than 7.000. The Museum'sMuseum's collection includes stone, bronze, and ceramics from the Ly, Tran, Le, and Nguyen dynasties and other countries such as China and Japan. The museum display areas are divided into three parts: Natural History of Hanoi; History of Hanoi from the country's founding to before the August Revolution; History of Hanoi from the August Revolution in 1945 to the present.
To celebrate the 1000th anniversary of Thang Long - Hanoi, a project to build a new Hanoi museum was carried out with a considerable amount of investment. The new Hanoi Museum is located on the Vietnam National Convention Center in Me Tri Ward, Nam Tu Liem District. It has an inverted pyramid structure, in which the 4th floor has the largest area, the lower floors are smaller. Consulting joint venture GMP - ILAG (Germany) is responsible for the design of the project. It consists of 4 floating floors and 2 basements; the construction area is approximately 12.000 m², floor area is more than 30.000 m² (including basement and roof). The Museum was inaugurated on October 6, 2010. An estimated 50.000 artifacts are displayed here.
